BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Once upon a time there lived a wealthy merchant and his three daughters.

One day, the father was to go to a far-off place and he asked his daughters what they wanted on his return. The first and the second daughter asked for lovely dresses.

But the third daughter, whose name was Beauty, said,

"Father, I only need a rose plucked by your hand." The merchant, on his way back, had to cross through the deep forest. It was dark and the merchant tried to find a place to sleep. He suddenly found a huge castle and went inside to find nobody. There was a huge table with delicious food and he ate it all. Then the merchant went into the bedroom and slept on a soft and fluffy bed. The next day, too, the merchant did not find anyone in the castle. He saw a beautiful rose bush growing in the lawn and remembered Beauty's gift. He plucked a red rose from the bush.

Suddenly, a ferocious looking beast sprang out of the bush. He was wearing fine silk clothes and roared, "I gave you food and a bed to sleep in! And now, you are stealing my roses!" The merchant was frightened and told the Beast about Beauty's gift. The Beast decided to let him go only if he promised to send Beauty to this castle. The merchant agreed and ran back home. He cried and told his daughters about the Beast. But Beauty loved her father a lot and agreed to go stay with the Beast.

The Beast treated Beauty with a lot of kindness. He was never rude to her. He let her stay in the biggest room and let her roam in the beautiful garden. Beauty would sit near the fireplace and sew while the Beast kept her company. At first, Beauty was afraid of the Beast but slowly, she began to like him.

One day, the Beast asked Beauty to marry him, but she refused. She was still afraid of his fearful-looking face.

The Beast still treated her kindly and with a lot of love.

Beauty missed her father a lot. The Beast gave her a magic mirror and said, "Look at the mirror and you can see your family. Now you won't feel lonely anymore.

One day, Beauty looked in the mirror and saw that father was very ill and dying. She went to the Beast and pleaded and cried, "Please let me go home! I only want to see my father before he dies!" But the Beast roared,

"No! You promised you would never leave this castle!"

Saying this, he stormed out of the room. But after some time, he came to Beauty and said, "You may go to stay with your father for seven days. But you must promise to return after that." Beauty was very happy and agreed.

Then she left and went to stay with her father. Her father, on seeing Beauty, felt very happy and soon recovered. Beauty stayed with her family for seven days and more. She forgot the Beast and his castle. But one night, she had a terrible nightmare in which she saw the Beast was very ill and about to die. He was crying,

"Beauty, please come back!"

Beauty woke up and went back to the castle because she did not mean to hurt the Beast. She cried and said,

"Please don't die, Beast! I will live with you forever!" The Beast miraculously changed into a handsome prince. He said, "I was under a curse all these years and could only be relieved when someone fell in love with me. I am now cured of the curse because you truly love me." And then, Beauty and the Beast were married and together they lived happily ever after.

One day, they all went to a ball in the palace, leaving Cinderella behind. Cinderella was feeling sad. Suddenly there was a burst of light and the fairy godmother appeared.With a flick of the magic she turned Cinderella into a beautiful princess with glass slippers and a horse carriage appeared at the door. The Story of "Crying Stone" from Borneo Island

Once upon a time, in a small village in Borneo Island, there lived a mother and her daughter. The daughter was popular among villagers because of her beautiful face but she has bad behavior. She always spent her time in front of the mirror admiring her beautiful face. She never helped her mother to fulfill their daily needs. The daughter always made her mother sad. However, the mother still loved her very much.

One day, the girl asked her mother to buy her a new gown. The mother refused it because she had no money. Because the mother loved her daughter so much, she finally bought her a new gown.

Both went to the market. But the daughter asked her mother to walk behind because she was embarrassed if people saw them together. Once again, because of her love, the mother obeyed the daughter's request.

Along the way home, the daughter still walked in front of her mother. People passing asked about the woman behind her. The daughter answered that she was not her mother but her servant. The mother kept silent. But inside her deep heart, she prayed to God to punish her daughter.

Suddenly, her daughter's legs turned into stone. The daughter realized that it was because she had hurt her mother's feelings. She begged her mother to forgive but it was too late.

Slowly, her body also turned into stone. Though the daughter had become a stone, the tears were still seen, which was why the stone was called Batu Menangis.

*Lake Toba*

In a valley in Sumatra that lived a farmer named Toba. He was a diligent farmer but unfortunately his harvest was not always bountiful and he often went hungry. Because of his hunger tober went fishing in the river he waited a long time and became desperate .When Toba was just about to go home, suddenly something tugged on his fishing line Taub was excited and started reeling in his fishing line. “Wow that’s a big fish” , said Toba sure enough. At the end of the line was a large gold scaly fish , Toba immediately brought the fish home to cook . At home Toba was disappointed because all of his firewood had been used up , “ah there’s no firewood here I better gob look for some in the fields” , then Toba placed the fish inside the basin. While he went to the field to collect the firewood, “ I will eat well today “ , said Toba. While carrying the firewood behind the house he lit the fire, but when Toba went to take the fish he was surprised the fish had vanished and instead there were pieces of gold inside the basin. “Where’s my fish and whose gold is this “ , then when Toba opened the door of his room he was surprised. There was a tall woman combing her long hair in front of a mirror. This woman is so beautiful , “hey who are you?”  ask Toba. The woman turned around and Toba was fascinated, Toba had never seen a woman as beautiful as her. “I am the incarnation of the fish you caught earlier ,the gold coins were my skill”,  Toba was confused. The woman smiled, “ I am cursed by the gods to be a fish but thanks to you the curse is gone now let’s go to the kitchen I’ll make you food you must be hungry”. Toba followed her to the kitchen deftly the woman immediately prepared food for Toba tobert was amazed by the woman’s brilliance in the kitchen. He said to himself if only she wanted to be my wife apparently the woman could read Toba’s mind. I want to be your wife but I have one condition said the woman after finishing his food. Toba was shocked to hear what she said just say it what’s the condition if we get married later never bring up my origins as a fish. I will not be the only one who suffer the consequences if you break this agreement , Toba agreed for him it was an easy condition. Toba and the woman finally married Toba was working so hard in the fields to fill their daily needs then his wife became pregnant Toba was pleased he couldn’t wait for the birth of his child not long after a baby boy was born Toba named him Samosir. Samosir grew into a naughty lazy child all he did was play around, Toba tried to be patient with Samosir behavior. When Toba worked in the field , Samosir said didn’t want to deliver the food his wife cooked for him. In the end it was Toba’s wife who delivered the food to Toba. “My wife you can’t spoil Samosir, forever if he continues to be spoiled it will be harder to control him” , Toba’s wife smiled and said “be patient my husband one day samosir will change.” “I’ve been patient enough with him my wife ,but my patience also has a limit”. One day Toba’s wife persuaded Samosi to take food to the fields for Toba, at first almost he refused but his mother continued to convince him. Finally Samosir agreed all , “right mom I’ll go for this food to father”. But on his way Samosir played with his friends instead after playing Samosir felt hungry . “I’m starving ,ah I will eat this food”, Samosir then ate the food that was supposed to be for his father and left him only a little. In the fields Toba couldn’t wait any longer he was starving moreover he didn’t have time to have breakfast because a lot of work needed to be done that day. In the distance some was sick him running where have you been Samosir here daddy has been waiting for you a long time Samosir didn’t answer and immediately gave him the food . Toba was surprised to find only the leftovers, “Hey Samosir have you eaten daddy’s food?, your behavior is out of line you little fish come here!”, Toba was angry at someone stare without realizing it spoken of the restrictions his wife had previously warned him off. Toba hit Samosir until he cried loudly. Samosir then ran to the house at home Samosir told everything to his mother ,” mother, father said they I’m the child of a fish ,is it true mom?”. Toba’s wife felt sad because Toba had brought up her origins. Then she told Samosir to run up the hill.”Samosir quick run up to the hill son , before the flood comes .“ “okay mom “, Samosir obeyed her. Immediately the sky was dark and lightning struck, flood appeared from the river. Toba’s wife suddenly jumped towards the tide and become a fish again. Toba who was working in the fields was shocked to see the flood coming towards him. “what’s this water why is this happening , arghhhh”. He didn’t have time to escape Toba drifted and sank into the flood. Soon the surge flooded the entire valley and left only the top of the hill in the middle where Samosir was hidden. The flood had created a lake and Samosir became an island that is why the lake is named Lake Toba and the islands middle is called Samosir .

The Lion and The Mouse

once upon a time, a lion, the king of the jungle was sleeping under a tree. a little mouse jumped on him soon the lion woke up picked up the mouse and opened his mouth to eat him "im sorry to wake you up. please don't eat me. i can help you one day." "hahaha that's funny.. okay i'll let you go now." a few days later a hunter's net fell on the lion the lion couldn't get out the mouse saw the lion and ran to help quickly the mouse helped the lion by gnawing the net then the lion could get out from the net "you are a little mouse but you are a big help thank you!" just forget it mr lion i'm happy to help you" then the mouse smiled happily and left to lion.

*The Ant and The Elephant*

Once upon a time, there lived a huge elephant in a jungle. He was arrogant and always underestimated animals smaller than him. In the same jungle, there lived a family of ants. Every morning, they would go in search of food and on their way back, they would always see the elephant troubling other animals.

One day, when the ant family was coming back collecting their food, the elephant sprayed a trunk full of water on them. “You shouldn’t hurt others like this” cried one of the ants. “Shut up you, tiny ant! Keep quiet or I will crush you to death,” said the elephant angrily. The poor ant kept quiet and went on its way. But she decided to teach the proud elephant a lesson. 

Next day, when the elephant was sleeping, the tiny ant slowly crept into the elephant’s trunk and started biting him. The elephant woke up and tried everything to get the ant out his trunk but could not. Such a big animal but he could not do anything to get the tiny ant out. 

The elephant started to cry and begged sorry to the ant. “I hope now you understand how 

others feel when you hurt them” said the ant. “Yes, I do. Yes, I do,” cried the elephant and pleaded the ant to come out. The ant took pity on the elephant and came out of his trunk. From that day onward, the elephant never troubled any animals.
